I will be listening to the best album from each of Rolling Stone Magazine’s top 100 artists of all time. I will listen to an album a day, starting from Remain in Light by Talking Heads and ending with Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles. After listening to the album, I’ll be writing my thoughts down here. While I’ll most likely provide some commentary on the albums themselves, I expect the album’s lyrical contents and historical contexts to provide additional food for thought. I welcome any and all discussion that results from this project — music related or otherwise.
Note: Picking the “best” album from each of these artists is obviously a subjective matter. While for some artists there exists near unanimous consensus as to what their “best” album is (Remain in Light as an example), others are not so universally agreed upon (Sgt. Peppers, Revolver or…The White Album). For the more difficult decisions, I am open to reader suggestions but I’ll also be conducting my own research and may listen to more than one album by an artist before deciding which one to write on. I am impatient for the debate.
Thanks for reading and please let me know if you have any questions or comments to help improve the quality of my project.
